I know they were ready for big blocks in the broad sense, it was just meant as a reflection on how far things had snowballed since the start of the platform. Same basic setup as had been originally meant for a 144 six, getting heavier and heavier and heavier. Better ball joints, heavier spindles and the like notwithstanding, it makes for a hell of a pounding over the front wheels.

It's definitely an FE block, its got that stupid little bypass hose on the water pump. Probably 390.

the biggest reason they shoved the 390 into the stang was because the Camaro was available with the 396 right off the bat.
